This little ghost figure has become very popular in these last couple of years. Snapchat is a mobile app that many people use to share photos and short videos of what they are doing, feeling, watching, or eating. Along with each video and photo, the app allows you to add emojis, text, filters, and even your personalized bitmoji and a filter known as geofilter. Snapchat has already integrated Bitmoji which is it’s own app into the Snapchat app.
Snapchat use to be something fun to do whenever you were bored. Now because it has gained over 158 million users, you can utilized some of those millions of users to build your brand and gain followers for yourself and your business. On average, people spend 25-30 mins on Snapchat everyday looking at the 2.6 billon Snapchat stories created on a daily. Let’s insert your brand and information about your business into the mix. That’s some good traffic you can be missing out on. Snapchat is a mobile app so many people are on the go and use what is easily accessible for them to get information. Snapchat is just one of those avenues people use to get information. Over half of the US internet visits come from mobile devices. You must make sure you take advantage of this sort of traffic because it is a key component to having a successful marketing plan.
There are two methods you can use to utilize Snapchat to help your brand and your online business. The first method is called the “free method” and the second method is called “paid method”. Both methods can yield you the same results.
What is the Free Method?
There are few strategies you could utilize to connect with and grow your Snapchat following and they are free. It requires a bit of effort but it’s all fun. Consider using one or all of the strategies below.
Share What Goes On Behind the Scenes
Many of your followers love to see the “behind the scene” footage on how something works or is made. That’s why they created a hit show called “How it’s made”. I’ve always felt more connected to a product or brand whenever there was something that gave me an insight into the world that creates what I am buying or a service that I want to use. This allows your followers to feel more connected to you. It shows your personality and your willingness to show what’s real.
Offer Coupons and Discounts
This will allow you to create some urgency for your users. Each Snap has a time limit of 24hrs. You can utilized this time limit to showcase any discounts or coupons available for your product or services. This create urgency with your followers because it will drive them to your website to get that deal.
Once your followers become accustomed to random deals like this on your Snapchat, they will more than likely take notice to your Snaps and be on the lookout. You will start to build up your brand and sustained the loyalty of your customer.
Telling stories is one of my favorite things to do on Snapchat. I sure that’s what majority of the users of Snapchat do. Telling stories can be beneficial to your business because if it is shared with the right person, it can become viral. Creating stories allows you to be creative. You can make a short video or commercial about a product or service that you are trying to sale. Your short story can be funny or you can say something meaningful or powerful. One thing I’ve learned about when you create a story is that you want to try to use different angles and not stay in one position. People will lose interest if your story is monotoned. If you stay in one spot and at the same angle, your Snap story becomes boring. Check out the difference below.
Boring Snapchat Video
Below you will see a very monotoned and less exciting video. With this type of story, many people will just either not watch the next Snap or click through without listening to your content. Check it out.
Exciting Snapchat Video
Below you see a more exciting and interactive video. There are many different angles. There are different locations where the story goes on. I wasn’t just sitting in one place. I said the same content but my video is more interesting to look at.
What’s the Paid Method?
There are several paid advertising options that you can use to gain more of an audience to your brand. These Snapchat ad options are tailored to your specific need. Check out the options below.
Snap ads are the most traditional route and it is very similar to the ads you would find in YouTube videos. Between stories, your 10 seconds Snap ad will play for the user. The user will then have an option to swipe up to learn more about your product or services. It has been reported that Snap Ads has a very high conversion rate besting traditional banner ads. Snap ads can be expensive. When your business is booming, this is a route I would take to build my brand out to millions of users that I have yet to reach. Prices for Snap ads are in the thousand of dollars range. Don’t let this be a deterrent. Make it a goal. Maybe you have 10k to invest in ad right now or maybe you don’t have it right now. Dream big and not small. The amount of money you spend on an ad depends on the days you want it to run and for how long you want it to run. Do your research. Make it happen.
Snapchat Sponsored Lenses
If you are a Snapchat user, I’m sure you are familiar with the cool lenses, also known as filters, that are available. Snapchat lenses are a lot of fun. What’s great is that you can create your own lens. This is another costly way to build your brand but it definitely will be worth it. Many people use and share these lenses on their Snapchat by either taking a video or photo.
Once your business is booming, think about purchasing a Snapchat Lens. If it fit the product you are trying to sell or the services you are trying to provide, then create a fun funky filter that will get your brand out there. If your product is selling meatballs, you can create a lens that turns people heads into meatballs. TacoBell created a lens that turned people heads into tacos. A good time to create a filter or lens is around certain events or holidays. The average user interacts with lenses for about 20 seconds. They implement the Snapchat lens in their photos and videos and they share among their friends. Snapchat lenses makes your brand highly visible and it is an interactive marketing tactic.
Snapchat geofilters are very low in cost and can be very affective with building your brand. Snapchat geofilters allows you to add location/event specific filters and frames to your content. You can create a filter for your business or for events that you host. People will share a “stamp” of your business or event and share it with there followers. This alone broadens and creates new audiences for you and your brand.
Geofilters are very low in cost. You can create a geofilter for 5 dollars. The price depends on the square footage range you want your filter to reach and for how many hours you want it to be on Snapchat. You can run a campaign with your specific geofilter for 1 hour and get 23,000 views for under 7 dollars. Geofilters has a very high ROI (return on investment). Snapchat geofilters are another highly impactful marketing opportunity
